May 8, 2020  ( Updated: 8/17/2020)

To our Firebird Theatre staff, friends and families,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Firebird Theatre must cancel our mainstage musical and all of the workshop programs and performances taking place in the months of June and July due to social distancing. We will not be performing The Wizard of Oz, My Son Pinoccchio JR, or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JR at the Phoenixville Area Middle School. Due to the cancellation of all Methacton School District summer activities, we will not be performing Disney's Lion King KIDS and Legally Blonde JR workshops at Arcola.  We have now (6/30/20) decided that it is still not in the best interest or safety of our students and staff to run our  We Are Monsters Workshop at The Colonial Theatre this August.

At this time (8/17/20) our Board of Directors have decided that we are unable to put on our traditional Holiday Show at The Colonial Theatre.

We were waiting along with all of you to find out if our community would go from Red to Yellow or even Green this summer, but sadly due to the overall commitment and preparation each show takes, that may not happen in time for any of our programs to take place. We want our audiences, staff, participants and their families to feel safe, and without that guarantee, we cannot in good faith operate our traditional theater program. We want all of you to enjoy the quality experience that you have come to expect and love, and without being together physically in a theater, it would not be what we promised. The performers deserve to perform in front of a live audience.

We are closely following the guidelines issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. When we are permitted to gather together again in schools and theaters, we will announce any feasible plans to reschedule programs for our participants later in the coming season.

We plan to offer these same workshop titles again next summer in 2021. If you are currently serving on a production staff or are currently registered in a workshop, you will be guaranteed your position or your spot in that workshop when it is rescheduled. Our registration chairperson and internship coordinator will be in touch with all of you to discuss your options and to start the tuition refund process if necessary.

In the meantime, please consider enrolling in one of our new and exciting online class offerings, coming to you later this month, to stay in touch with your fellow Firebirds!

Keep singing, dancing, creating and exercising! For the day will come soon when we will rise from the ashes and can all be together again at the theatre.

With all of our best regards,

The Firebird Theatre Board of Directors:
Janet Hoehl, President
Martha Gross, Vice President
Linda Fisher, Secretary
Altaira Heiser, Treasurer
Melissa Schreiber, Community Events
Christine Steiner, Publicity Chair
Brandon Carcella, Technical Director
