Les Misérables is the world’s longest running musical — a true modern classic based on Victor Hugo's novel and featuring one of the most memorable scores of all time. The multi-award-winning Les Misérables is as groundbreaking today as it was when it first premiered in London in 1985. Featuring updated orchestrations based on the Tony-nominated 2014 Broadway revival, Les Misérables School Edition also includes new support materials including a Reference Recording for rehearsals, an enhanced Director’s Guide and an expanded Study Guide.
In nineteenth century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter.

Meet the Staff

Director/CHoreographer: Logan Schlitt
Picture
Logan Schlitt (she/her) is thrilled to be returning to staff for her third summer at Firebird, but has been a member of the Firebird family since 2015. She is a rising senior at The University of Notre Dame studying theatre and psychology, but spent her past semester studying/performing at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. She has worked locally in children’s theatre for the past 6 summers. When not at Firebird, you can find her working as the artistic producer of her university’s student-run theatre group, performing throughout the midwest
with her college’s comedy improve troupe, or prepping to direct her next play/musical. She is very grateful for all the opportunities Firebird has provided her to grow as a performer and teacher over the years.
Assistant Director: Aileen Lutz
Picture
Aileen Lutz is a Marketing student at Rider University. She recently graduated from Mercer County Community College with a Theatre AFA degree. During her time at Mercer, she performed as an actor and dancer in several musicals and showcases, as well as working as a producer, director, stage manager, production assistant, and other backstage roles. Outside of theatre productions, during her time at Mercer, Aileen joined Phi Theta Kappa and became the Vice President of Service, founded a drama club, participated in Princeton’s TTI philosophy course,
and obtained a Mental Health First Aider Certification. Aileen had been involved with Firebird as a performer for several years, and she is so excited to join the summer staff, and help bring this incredible production to life!
Music Director: Sarah Shulman

Sarah is excited to join the Firebird crew for the first time!  She cannot wait to work with such a talented group of teens on one of her all-time favorite shows, Les Miserables! Previous theater work she has done include vocal directing Catch Me If You Can and being in shows such as Shrek The Musical, Oliver!, The Wizard of Oz, and more! She is very grateful for the opportunity to share the magic of musical theater with young people.
